First Prize and Encouragement Award – Graphic Arts – from the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, 1992.
I integrated modern lighting equipment used in photographic and cinematic production into the process of composing artistic elements in drawing, as well as in organizing the studio lighting environment. This was achieved through a scientifically studied control of light properties, the diffusion and scattering of illumination, and the balance between shadows, reflections, and highlights. Such an approach represents a scientific contribution that serves both the artist and the drawing process, particularly in the academic field.

Artist Statement:
The morning sun rises every day, accompanied by cool breezes carrying the scent of Eastern spices, letting its warm rays flow over the expanse of Old Cairo, casting faint and extended shadows over its streets and buildings. Those shadows are interspersed with bright areas of light that touch with their warmth the ruins of Old Islamic Cairo with its unique decorations and inscriptions, which embrace among their historical landmarks popular houses in a unique composition that combines the authenticity of the ancient past with the simplicity of the contemporary Egyptian, who remains attached to his roots and history.
